Welcome to Robert G Allen Photography. I'm a professional multi-disciplinary freelance commercial and editorial photographer based in the Pacific Northwest USA.

While my career has primarily been as a professional headshot and event photographer, the content on this website represents other areas of photography for which I have professional competency and or enjoyment. The resulting front page photos (www.RobertAllen-Photography.com) and single subject galleries (see Galleries drop-down menu at the top of this page) are the result of a combination of client assignments and personal areas of interest.

I developed an interest in photography soon after digital cameras came onto the market in the late 1990s. My early experiences primarily involved photographing family events (birthdays, outings, celebrations, travel etc…). Those early self-assignments allowed me to refine my photography craft in preparation of offering headshot and event photography services to individual clients and organizations on a paid basis.

My approach to composition and post processing is straight forward. My preference is to capture images utilizing naturally occurring available light and color, occasionally utilizing supplemental lighting if needed, such as in a studio environment or low light setting, using Nikon SB-5000 flashes. If warranted, I will remove minor distracting elements within a composition. I do not use sky replacement, fake bokeh or generative AI in my photos. All photos are processed with Capture One. I do not use any Adobe software. I can not support a company that promotes fake skies, fake bakeh, extending the background etc… I do not make misleading changes to photographs that would materially alter the scene as it originally existed. None of the photos on this website are AI generated. All photos are real and taken by myself using Nikon cameras and lenses listed on my gear page.
