Hot off the press is a new version of NX Studio. This version includes fixes for the following and raises the version number to 1.9.1:

  • NX Studio was sometimes forced to shut down when printing.

  • Parts of pictures sometimes failed to print when a paper size larger than A3 was selected.

  • NX Studio sometimes terminated without opening the login dialog when the login button was pressed.

  • Pixel shift merge in NX Studio sometimes failed when it consisted of 8 or 32 pictures taken using pixel shift shooting with Flexible Color applied.

I find it really strange that Dpreview has the Nikon P1000 listed on their current MOST POPULAR CAMERAS list which is based on cameras that are frequently mentioned, discussed, or purchased by their readership, indicating high interest or demand from photographers. If the P1000 has been replaced, why isn’t the COOLPIX P1100 being mentioned more due to the fact that it is the newer replacement model.

With a release date of October 2020, the Z7II offers plenty of opportunity for updates and changes, much of which are overdue. Just like the Z6III, I think similar changes could be made to the Z7II to bring it up to date with the release of the Z7III. Here is what I think could the specs of a refreshed Nikon Z7II could be.

I was reminded recently that the winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy were only 6 months away. And 6 months seems like a reasonable timeline for the release of the Z9II. What better timing I thought than right before the Olympic games!

These are very limited firmware updates but it’s good to know that Nikon is still caring about their legacy DSLR cameras, at least currently. I have owned and used both of these cameras and they are both DSRL perfected. I would have stayed with the D6 but the shutter was too loud!

I was recently retained to provide event photography coverage of the 2025 Standhope Ultra Challenge near Sun Valley Idaho. It’s considered one of the highest trail races in the US Northwest with elevations reaching over 11K feet within the Pioneer mountains of Idaho. This is not a course for the faint of heart!
